Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, has announced the upcoming launch of a record-breaking dive coaster called Wrath of Rakshasa. Set to open in 2025, this thrilling new ride will be located in the County Fair section of the park and promises to be a standout addition to their lineup of attractions.
Wrath of Rakshasa will feature an exhilarating 171-foot drop at a 96-degree angle, making it the world’s steepest dive coaster. The ride will also include a dramatic cliffhanger moment just before the drop, heightening the anticipation for riders. Additionally, the coaster will boast five inversions, the most ever on a dive coaster, offering a truly intense experience.
Standing at 180 feet tall, Wrath of Rakshasa will reach speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour and span a track length of 3,239 feet. Park president John Krajnak highlighted the park’s commitment to innovation and thrills, noting that this new coaster continues Six Flags Great America's tradition of pushing the limits in the amusement park industry.
Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, Wrath of Rakshasa is part of a broader expansion for Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. The company, following its merger with Cedar Fair, plans to introduce several new attractions across its parks in 2025, including the AlpenFury coaster at Canada’s Wonderland and the Rapterra coaster at Kings Dominion.
