Siren’s Curse tilt coaster coming to Cedar Point in 2025
Thursday 19 September 2024
Cedar Point is set to introduce a new, record-breaking roller coaster next year.
In 2025, visitors may have two new roller coasters to enjoy, as the park's Top Thrill 2 only operated for about a week this season before it was closed for ongoing modifications.
The latest addition, called the Siren's Curse, will offer a unique ride experience and is slated to be the tallest, fastest, and longest “tilt” roller coaster in the U.S.
Inspired by mythical sirens said to live beneath Lake Erie, the coaster will feature music used to lure sailors, adding to the immersive theme.
Cedar Point describes the coaster as an experience where riders ascend a 160-foot lift hill designed to resemble an old Lake Erie shipping crane. At the peak, they'll face a broken track that abruptly ends. The platform will then tilt 90 degrees, aligning the track with a twisted path below, before riders plummet along 2,966 feet of twisting track, reaching speeds of 58 mph.
Riders will experience 13 moments of airtime, two 360-degree zero-gravity barrel rolls, and a high-speed "triple-down" feature with overbanked curves. The 24-passenger coaster trains will also feature integrated audio and LED lighting.
Siren’s Curse will be located near the Iron Dragon coaster and Cedar Point Marina.
Construction on the new coaster is set to begin soon, but Cedar Point is not guaranteeing that it will be ready by the park's opening day next spring. Instead, the Siren's Curse is expected to debut in early summer 2025, becoming the park's 19th roller coaster, including the modified Top Thrill 2, which has been out of operation for much of this season.
